It is easy for tenants to make their rental payment online with a bank card. 25% of the rental is paid upon reservation with the balance transferred one month before the start date of the rental.
If the reservation is made less than 30 days before the start of the trip, the tenants pay the total amount due at the time of reservation.
The use of the "Secure Payment" service is optional for "Performance" listings. If you decide to use it, you can for some locations and not others. "Performance" listings also benefit from the "Booking only" option which allows owners to manage only the deposit payment via this service (see below).
MediaVacationRentals.com is the only website to offer online payments for subscription listings. This option allows you to enjoy the cost advantage of subscription and the "Secure Payment" service (see below).
The "Secure Payment" service is not available for properties situated on Italian territory (more information).
The "Secure Payment" service for rentals is obligatory for free, no-subscription lisings for reasons of security and for the payment of service charges. It offers numerous advantages for tenants and owners.
The "Zen" plan is not available for properties situated on Italian territory (more information).
The "Secure Payment" service and therefore the "Zen" plan are not available for properties situated on Italian territory. This is due to local taxation reasons and the obligation to pay taxes linked to the rental property in the case of payment via the platform. This obligation is incompatible with the legal status of the company publishing the site.
While many sites charge tenants and/or owners a commission of around 22% of the rent, the "Secure Payment" service only costs:
These charges are deducted from the payments transferred to the owner at the start of the rental. There are no other charges.
The "Secure Payment" service offers numerous advantages to tenants, in particular secure transactions, speed of reservation and the option to use bank card travel insurance.
Certain fraud attempts aim to use your bank details. The "Secure Payment" service allows you to keep your bank information private.
Once the booking is confirmed the tenants and owners receive a PDF contract signed by both parties, which is valid in court. The contract is bilingual in the case of a tenant not speaking the same language as the owner.
The use of the "Secure payment" service is recommended for foreign tenants. The absence of cheques in many countries, exchange problems, language barriers and lack of confidence in direct payments are often constraints for rental companies. The "Secure Payment" service manages these issues automatically.
Unlike other platforms which outsource services to other companies, "Secure Payment" bookings are managed internally by MediaVacationRentals.com customer services. If you have any questions or problems with a reservation, contact us directly.
The "Secure Payment" service is completely optional for the "Performance" listing subscription. You can subscribe whenever you wish and use it whenever you want to.
The owner remains in charge of the reservation process. They can discuss directly with the tenant just as for a direct payment and remain free to select their tenants.
Owners may define their own rental terms, cancellation terms, etc.
The "Performance" listings (annual subscription) have the use of the "Booking only" option. In this case, only manages the 25% deposit payment, the balance is directly transferred by the tenant according to the defined conditions.
This form allows you to benefit from "Secure Payment" for more flexibility for balance payments ('cheques vacances', etc) with even lower service charges (1.2% total including taxes of the rental).
If you have "Performance" listings, it is possible that you are no longer subscribed to "Secure Payment". You therefore need to subscribe:

Then set the rental conditions for your listing:

You can communicate freely with tenants, just as you would with a direct reservation.
If you wish to respond to the tenant's request, you can create a booking form in just a few clicks via the owner-tenant mailbox discussion page - simply click on the "create a booking form" button. The page contains the information given by the tenant and your default rental conditions, but you are free to modify this information.
At this stage no further action is required from you. You will be kept informed by email and via the website of further actions related to this reservation. You will retain access to this file and can check its status at any time.
Within 5 minutes, the website will send a reservation proposal to the potential tenant who is then invited to go to the secure mailbox MediaVacationRentals.com to accept the reservation and pay the deposit.
Once the deposit (25% of the reservation total) is paid by the tenant, the reservation becomes "reserved". You will be informed by email, the calendar will be updated, a contract will be signed by both parties (a bilingual contract, in the case of a rental between two different countries). The payment amount will be deposited into a dedicated escrow account for the reservation.
The balance is automatically paid by the tenant's bank card one month prior to the start of the rental and transferred to the escrow account relating to the reservation.
The net rental amount is transferred to your bank account 3 days after the rental starts.
Cancellations can be initiated by tenants or owners. Penalties resulting from the cancellation conditions defined by the owner will thereby apply.
