I spent two weeks in this house and loved my stay! The house is very comfortable and well-equipped, but the best of all is its location: it is directly on the water and only 15 minutes walk from downtown Saint Omer. It was very convenient, and very very quiet, and the possibility of going out with the boat and navigate the waterways freely is just fantastic. It's a beautiful place which was really worth discovering for me. The owners of the property were also extremely nice and welcoming.
We Thoroughly enjoyed our time staying in this lovely cottage! Monsieur Lauweriere is the perfect host. Monsieur Lauweriere and his family showed us around the property when we arrived and made sure we were happy before they left. I have my own boat so were able to use a dinghy which was there when ever we wanted which was Great and allowed us to explore the area. Monsieur Lauweriere gave us a vey pleasent tour of the waterways around Le Marais Audomarois. It is a beautiful area, much like the Norfolk Broads in the UK, but in my opinion much better! There is lots to do, St. Omer is a lovely place to visit, easy parking in the lower end of the town (free!). Lille is around an hour away and i would recommend going there too.
The cottage is at the end of a lane right next to the waterways, which are full of wildlife, swans, ducks, cuckoo's herrons and much more. The cottage is laid out on two floors, the ground floor being tiled You enter through a lovely and light and airy kitchen with oven, hob, fridge freezer, coffee maker and all the plates etc and cutlery you'll need. The living room is equiped with an arm chair, sofa bed, tv with satellite and cable. The bathroom has a lovely shower, vanity unit and has a washing machine, there is a separate toilet.
Upstairs via steep stairs there are two good sized bedrooms with view across fields to St. Omer. The beds are comfortable and provided with duvets pillows and extra blankets if needed, there is a tv in one of them.
Whether you will be staying for a weekend break, or longer and visiting more of the area, this would be the perfect place to stay. Being only an hour away from the port of Calais and the Tunnel makes this a Great choice. The road from Callais is a breeze, i would recomend the Toll Road which only costs a couple of euros. Though we did go back to Calais on the non toll road which allows you to see more of the gorgeous french country side!
Summing up, i would recommend, and indeed have done to friends and family, staying in this lovely cottage! Monsieur Lauweriere really was a great host, we shared a couple of beers in the garden there and although my french is lacking, as is his english we will be keeping in touch and will Definately be staying there again.
Rental corresponding to our expectations allowing a sufficient number of beds for our whole family. The living room being upstairs we would have preferred a television upstairs. Otherwise, well-equipped accommodation.

A charming house, very clean, pleasant, I highly recommend. A week is short, but very good times. The house is spacious, you feel at home. The place is calm, restful. We are more than satisfied, there is a lot to visit. The visit of the marsh is magnificent, do not miss it !!! We had a lovely holiday, THANK YOU ??
Une charmante maison, très propre, agréable, je recommande fortement. Une semaine, c'est court mais de très bons moments. La maison est spacieuse, on s'y sent chez soi. L'endroit est calme, reposant. Nous sommes plus que satisfait, il y a beaucoup de choses à visiter. La visite du marais est magnifique, ne passez pas à côté !!! Nous avons passé d'agréables vacances, MERCI 🤗😘

We had a great time. Everything was great, home owners, locals too. Very tidy and clean house in a magical place in the heart of audomarois marshes. Silence, quiet, visiting ducks and swans, ideal for relaxing. And especially the kindness of Mr Lauwerière who takes the time to show us around the swamp boat with appropriate comments and anecdotes to visit the marshes. For sure we will return!
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Tout était super bien, l'accueil des propriétaires, des gens de la région aussi. La maison très coquette et propre, dans un lieu magique, au cœur du marais audomarois. Le silence, le calme, la visite des canards et des cygnes, idéal pour se reposer.
Et puis et surtout la gentillesse de Mr Lauwerière, qui prend le temps de nous faire visiter le marais en barque avec les commentaires et anecdotes appropriés à la visite du marais.
C'est sûr on y retournera !
House directly and absolutely ok for 4 persons more than adequate, very clean and very nice waterfront location (side channel, own boat with motor see available) The owner is very friendly and helpful, especially the guided ride through the canals of the moor with the landlord was a highlight of the holiday. The sea with its beautiful beaches and hiking trails on the cliffs can be reached in half an hour,

Haus absolut o.K. und für 4 Personen mehr als ausreichend, sehr sauber und sehr schöne Lage direkt am Wasser (Seitenkanal, eigenes Boot mit Motor seht zur Verfügung),
Der Vermieter ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, insbesondere die geführte Fahrt durch die Kanäle des Moores mit dem Vermieter war ein Höhepunkt des Urlaubes.
Das Meer mit seinen schönen Stränden und Wanderwegen auf den Klippen ist in einer guten halben Stunde zu erreichen,

The cottage was consistent with the description. Mr. Lauwerière was a wonderful host, always available it should be second nature because it is a firefighter. A gem!!

The apartment corresponded to the specified standard; was clean and well maintained, and the owner was welcoming and accommodating and the apartment is in a pleasant and relaxing landscape, good transport links, very good infrastructure (shops / Attractions).

Excellent property set in a rural position next to a river. Extremely friendly and helpful owners who went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic holiday, even though they do not speak much English (very little in fact!!). Stairs up to the bedrooms are quite steep for young children or old people but no problem for anyone else.
There are bikes and a small boat at the property which the owners will let you use (subject to experience) and there are shops withing a 20 minute walk, 5 minute bike ride or 5 mins in a car.
The people here are very friendly and our 13 daughter who speaks no french soon made friends with the locals and was quite happy riding up and down the road outside the house - which is a dead end road with virtualy no traffic.
Best of all this property is only 30 minutes from Calais but because of the watery area it could be a million miles away - it is like a version of the Norfolk Broads - but in minature!
Certainly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful holiday who likes water and rural french life.
